The agency has released its annual top 10 “Catches of 2021!” list, which reveals the 10 strangest things found and confiscated by airport security workers.

In a video posted to the TSA’s Twitter account, the agency counts down to the No. 1 strangest item, accompanied by humorous quips, in an effort to remind passengers of the things they can and cannot bring with them when traveling through U.S. security checkpoints.

The TSA’s list of oddest items is as follows:

  1. Chainsaw, found at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

  2. A wine bottle holder made to look like several revolvers, found at Sacramento International Airport.

  3. An “assortment” of fireworks, found at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.)

  4. A “well-worn, heavy-duty” machete, found at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

  5. Bear spray, found at Destin-Fort-Walton Beach Airport.

  6. A “well-worn, heavy-duty” cleaver, found at Harrisburg International Airport.

  7. A firearm concealed in a belt buckle, found at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

  8. Crystal meth hidden in a breakfast burrito, found at William P. Hobby Airport.

  9. A long-barreled antique revolver, found at Newark Liberty International Airport.

  10. Bullets in a deodorant stick, found at Atlantic City International Airport.

As perhaps an honorable mention, the TSA reported on December 27 that several knives were found sewn into the stuffing of a teddy bear that resembles Darth Vader.

It is also worth mentioning that the passenger who attempted to fly with the machete also had ammunition and a canister of flammable butane fuel, the TSA reported.

“Can’t stump us!” the TSA joked in the video.

The tweet also included a kind word for the officers, saying, “They worked hard to keep travelers safe as they returned to the skies.”

In 2021, record-breaking numbers of travelers passed through TSA checkpoints. In July and December, approximately 2 million passengers were seen at airports across the country.

This year’s list could be considered milder in comparison to 2020’s, which included a grenade, firearms, and a jar carrying a dead baby shark preserved in chemicals.

And 2022 promises new and surprising items, as TSA reports have shown that several handguns and firearms have already been confiscated in the new year. More items prohibited by the agency can be found on its website.

Newsweek reached out to the TSA for further comment but did not hear back before publication.
