RELATED: Stray: The Biggest Fixes the Game Needs
The good news is, Chapter 8 of Stray technically begins while players are still in the slums, meaning that they can take a few moments to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead. They’ll also have the opportunity to grab any missing memories before leaving the safety of the slums, with two additional memories waiting for them down in the depths of the sewers.
How to Complete Chapter 8 of Stray
As soon as they’re ready to depart, players should make their way to the entrance of the sewers and hop onto Momo’s boat. After setting sail, they’ll soon come to a locked gate. When they do, they’ll need to disembark and head through one of the gaps in the gate in order to proceed any further.
After climbing over some barrels, players will come to a lever, though going near it will lead to some Zurks hatching from the nearby eggs. Those who aren’t going for the “Pacifist” trophy can take these out with the Defluxor, but anyone who is will need to quickly pull the lever and then dodge the Zurks until they’re able to get back to the safety of Momo’s boat.
In the next area, the terminal that controls the gate will malfunction, forcing Momo to stay behind in order to open the gate manually. After hopping across the barrels and through the now-open gate, players should climb onto the metal walkway dead ahead of them and then head through the door to their left.
If players take the first left that they come to in this next area, they’ll be able to head through a pipe in the left-hand wall to find one of B-12’s 27 memories. However, they’ll likely need to kill all of the Zurks in the area in order to do so, so for those who are going for the “Pacifist” trophy, it might be better to grab the memory on a separate run.
Heading straight through the tunnel will lead to some pipes and rails, which players can climb down to reach a new area. Here, they’ll want to run straight and hop onto the lever in front of them to open up the big metal gate. They’ll then need to head through the gate, following the path until they pass through a small door, all while dodging an endless stream of Zurks. Eventually, they’ll come to a slope, after which they can swing a right before hopping down to safety on the pipe below.
If players take a left here, they’ll be able to climb on some other pipes and barrels to reach an area with a giant Zurk’s nest, where they’ll be able to trigger another one of B-12’s memories. Taking a right along the main pipe will instead lead to a new room with thousands of Zurk eggs and two hackable switches on either side of a large metal gate.
Opening this gate and hopping through it via one of the floating barrels will lead players to another new area. Before following the path to the right though, they should look in the pile of debris to their left to find an old scrap of carpet that can be scratched, though this is only really necessary for those who are trying to unlock Stray’s “Territory” trophy.
Continuing onward a little further will trigger a cutscene, which marks the beginning of the chapter’s final section. Without B-12 or the Defluxor, players will have no choice but to make a run for it. Thankfully, the path ahead is fairly linear, although it is still possible to get caught if players aren’t careful.
Assuming they survive, players will soon come to a large metal gate and will be able to squeeze through it just before it closes. After reviving B-12 by pressing the Triangle button a few times, they can then disable the nearby fan by removing the energy cell and head through the vent behind it to reach Stray’s ninth chapter, Antvillage.
