Dear David Moyes,

Or Sir David Moyes, which I hope you’ll become over your stay at the club.

I’ve been a fan of the team a few years before you arrived, and here are my views. The tactics which you loved at Everton of crossing the ball into the box clearly isn’t working. The lovely crosses, perfect headers, delightful link up play, beautiful goals and great comebacks of last season are not there anymore.

Instead we see several failed crosses, shots missing the goal, and the much anticipated Fergie time turn into the dreaded Moyes time, as we dropped points against the likes of Southampton, Fulham and Cardiff in the last 5 minutes of the match! It was the same a week ago against Stoke City, with two players injured and one goal after a deflection.

We have great players and great talents. You haven’t had luck with team selection with injuries, your main summer signing is injured and last season’s top scorer was out for a long time. We understand you are a great manager, but we want to see more central link-up play with the likes of Rooney and Mata rather than the poor crosses from Evra or Young. We have some stars like Kagawa and a good young left full back in Buttner waiting to be given a chance.

The likes of Giggs, Vidic and Ferdinand are well over their prime. We understand it’ll take you a while to rebuild this great team, with exciting players and we understand it’ll be tough for a few seasons, by that we don’t mean finishing 7th or 8th.

But failing against a 20th placed team, who were by no means extra ordinary, is pathetic and unacceptable, irrespective of whether we had luck or not. I don’t agree with the fact that you inherited a Championship winning squad. It just isn’t a Championship winning squad without Sir Alex. Our 27.5 million signing of Fellaini was a good one.I feel that most of us fans will remember his winner against us in the first game of the previous season.

We need to get a minimum of 75 points to get through to the Champions League, which implies that we have to win 11 of our next 12 games. I know we’ll do better next season, and you’ll bring in several talented stars, but the prospect of no Champions League Football will dent our chances of securing a World class player. Sure all of us Red Devils jumped when Carrick was done a favour by the deflection, and we felt that this could be your moment, but alas! Sir Alex’s face said it all. We dropped points again.

The game against Arsenal had some bright spots. We played a lot more central. The link up play between Rooney and van Persie was nice to see, especially the counter attack that almost resulted in a goal for the Dutchman. These moments were missing in the past six months, and it definitely is a bright spot in a relatively boring game. If Mata can join in, which he will in due time if he is utilized properly, will help United open up opposition defences.

Give Rooney a chance to play in his once forgotten striker role. It might help. Play Mata behind the two strikers. Please decide on a definite role for Phil Jones, who is definitely a future great, maybe even a future captain; a precise role, it’s tough for him to play as a full-back, centre back and holding midfielder in consecutive games.

It would be nice to unleash all our attacking and creative talent against a lowly placed Crystal Palace by playing the likes of Januzaj, Rooney, Mata and van Persie. The young kid has blossomed under you. Play him more often, instead of Ashley Young. It’s through that stars need darkness to shine, but it’s been dark for way too long.

I request you sir, to pick up the fallen champions and help them back to their pedestal. We know that will take time, the signing of Mata was a move in the right direction. Help us achieve our goal, of securing a champions league spot.

Please, this is our humble request. Our only request. May you emerge victorious.

Glory. Glory. Manchester United.
